Discovering Gifts From the Sea

Sometimes the greatest discoveries come from walking a simple path.

"Wow, Mom…..Baba……Look…..I found the Sea." said our cinnamon haired Tennessee boy. "How can a forest path lead to the ocean?" he wondered. "I didn't even see the sand coming or anything."

Did it rain last night? "Mom, this water has salt in it."
These lovely fall leaves and pine needles have found their way into a small crevice of water. A memory from the exiting tide.

Other gifts left by the ocean were big and wide mounds of seaweed.

Though we have been to a variety of oceans and seas in his life, this was the first time that there were rocks on the beach, and pieces of hidden life within their crevices.

  5. is it amazing, isn’t it, that the forest can lead right to the sea. I grew up on the rocky beaches of the north east. These kinds of beaches, with all their hidden treasures are a child’s paradise. Glad your Tennessee boy fell for it, too.

  6. Valerie, these photos are amazing. It took me a second to determine if that top photo was actually a painting. What images you have created.
I grew up living at the ocean, and in my opinion there has been nothing quite as magical that I have found as water. The sound, the life force, the ebb and flow, and of course, the treasures.
