Hi, My name is Valarie, momma to 3 lovely children-Zaina,Miriam, and Omar- and wife to my wonderful husband who doesn’t seem to mind a messy kitchen and tons of yarn and craft projects all over the house or my extremely large collection of books in several languages.

Together we have built a life in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. There are many adventures here as we build treehouses, swim with sea turtles, travel abundantly, do many crafts and read so many books. We have a great appreciation for music and play and listen often.

I’m a native of Portland Oregon and miss it everyday of my live long life. I go home often to see what the webfoots are doing.

Along with loving my family I enjoy photography, knitting, cooking, gardening, and travelling.

Two much loved projects are:
LearnSweden, an online learning program to learn the Swedish language. www.learnsweden.com

and

Jump Into A Book. A blog and website from our ever famous book club where the pages of the book we are reading com alive. www.jumpintoabook.com

When I’m not in Tennessee or Portland you can find me on the island of Gotland, in the Baltic Sea, in the country of Sweden. My family is Swedish and I still have strong ties to this wonderful place.

Thank-you for stopping by. Please do say hello. ~
See you soon.

Interests

Love your blog. A delightful mix of phrasing and visuals.
Since we are experience yet another snow — on top of the inch of ice we received a couple days ago — I decided to do a bit of web exploring. Found your blog via the Natural Surburbia blog. I look forward to reading more in the future.

P.S. While not from Oregon it is one of my favorite places. Fortunately some friends moved there and love to receive visits from family and friends. Hmmm…I haven’t visited them for a while.

  2. Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks so much for stopping by. The snow storm totally missed us. Sorry you got so much of the white stuff.
Isn’t Oregon wonderful. It sounds like you might have to take trip out there soon. Me too. It’s been over year since I’ve been home. I hope you’ll stop by again and thank you for saying hello. I really like meeting the people who stop by now and then.
    Take Care,
    Valarie

  3. THe comment of “missing Oregon your whole long live life” strikes chords with me… I am a native of Alabama, living my long live life in Arizona. Many beautiful things have happened to me here… many beautiful people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, but my heart tugs at HOME. I lost my younger brother a year ago this past Feb and all to well that tug gets to me more and more, the longing of childhood I suppose… well… I love your sense of family. Not sure why I am telling you this, but I really enjoy witnessing your family and the love you have for one another! Hope you have a blessed Easter! Brande

hi, it was a pleasure to meet you on my resent trip ‘back home’ to Tennessee.. as I live my ‘long live life’ I also felt the ‘tug to go Home’ but I realize more and more Home is where you can feel useful and productive, so home for me is here in Jordan with my family and friends. If I spent more time in you circle I am sure we would become good friends, it was wonderful to learn we have a family connection..Rosemary
