Strawberries,Toast and some Good Folks

As I was waking up this morning, a strong southern spring storm blew in complete with scattered showers. Often times scattered showers mean that it is pouring rain in Maryville while 10 miles down the road in Knoxville they are having a beach day. Today was one of those rare occasions when we had "real" scattered showers. While I was laying in my bed I could hear the rain pouring across the street on our neighbors house while we were waiting under heavy skies until it started pouring on our house.

While laying there I got to thinking about how much I love to wake-up like this ……

In fact it is one of my favorite most lovable things. This got me thinking about other loveable things and hence today's post. Here are three more of my most loveable things.

Last Saturday, on that once in a lifetime garage sale day, we passed an organic strawberry farm which was inviting anyone to come and pick strawberries. So yesterday I went and picked just a little bit for us. Just enough to eat but not enough to have a major jam day.

For many months now I have drooled over the lovely fabrics of Anna Maria Horner. I've paged endlessly through her book and then one day on her blog she was sharing a sneak peak at some of her new fabric. A little time later she was wearing this cute zig zag dress which I knew would not look the same on me. So when she came up with the zig zag quilt pattern, I was so there. While in Savannah, my quilt and fabrics came. What a joy. They are so soft and vibrant. Now I'm afraid to use them. What if I cut them wrong and make a mistake? I will just have to embrace my brave inner quilter for this one.

Lastly, while looking for knitting patterns on Ravelry, I ran into a fingerless glove pattern inspired by the catalog Toast. I went to their site and ordered myself a copy…….which came yesterday. Truly one of the most artistically inspiring catalogs I've ever seen. It's not a catalog, it's a coffee table book. Online they also have a home storewhich is equally enthralling. Oh….in the about section you can get some of their beautiful photography as screen savers. I've chosen the pomegranates.

  1. I love the Toast catalogues. I get them sent all the way to Australia. Like a book or magazine arriving in the post – I love reading them, so inspiring.
And all that glorious Anna MH fabric – what a treat! Can’t wait to see what you make with it. Such fun. I love her fabrics, colours, blog, patterns… I’m expecting her book in the post any day now.
I’m really glad you bought some paper boats from old yarns. Please do share when they arrive, and you’ve made them up.
    Enjoy.

  2. Hey there
Found the link to your site via Ellie’s (whom I recently met at a craft show). Thanks for buying my little boat kit, hope you enjoy it! Funny, reading through your blog – I too have recently discovered the make-me-gasp beautiful Toast catalogues and the current series of the boat kits will feature them.
Also, I lived in Stockholm for a year and went to a local bonfire night which was truly amazing. All the traditions and rituals, we really don’t have anything quite the same in Australia. I miss it.
    Take care, K

  4. Hi Kristina. I just got your message saying my little boats are coming. I can hardly wait. Isn’t Toast just wonderful? So glad to hear that you enjoyed Stockholm. It is truly one of my favorite cities on the planet. I grew up in a home filled with all of these Swedish tradtions. It’s fun to keep doing them. I’m sure Australia has some great traditions. I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t. Enjoy your blog and photos. They’re just so lovely.
    Take Care,
    Valli
