The Magic of doing so I can eat chocolate……..

I would just like to say that Martha uses really big scary words like fear, scary, and risk in her chapter called "Risk". It's Friday and time for The Joy Diet. It is so hard to move forward with words like these. Which brings me to my next point which is…..we have choices. Martha is just trying to get us moving forward. If these words aren't doing it for me then I have the choice to select different words.

First I re-defined what we were suppose to do this week. I called it how to avoid risk. How does one avoid risk?

I replaced all of those scary words with words I could relate to such as action, goals, and magic. I looked at my list of desires and made an outline of everything that would need to happen to reach my desire. I then asked the question what things on my list can I set a date with to get them checked off the list ? I opened my agenda and put them on the calendar. These dates are also on my google calendar which sends my updates on my email and phone. I've also made a dreamboard with these goals on it .When I've scratched something off my list, I eat a piece of chocolate and glue the little wrapper on the dream board. It's just a little reward. You will be able to tell if I'm getting closer to my dreams and desires because I will have gained a bit of weight, eventhough I'm on the joy diet, as I've scratched off the little details of my life. ๐Ÿ™‚ but I would have enjoyed every moment of this because I just really love chocolate.

Chocolate

I sent out emails to my closest friends explaining to them that I'm working on some goals. On this email I set specific goals with specific dates on completing them. I asked them to perpetually ask me about these goals and how they are coming. I also promised to send them a quick email each time I scratched something off the list.

There are somethings on my list of goals, dreams, and desires that will need a little magic touch.I don't really know how to reach some of my goals but I truly believe that as I do what I can towards my intentions of these desires coming true, then providence will provide the rest. For me this is truly the joy of the journey. Next week we are onto Treats, I hope this involves chocolate but knowing Martha she's just teasing us again. Have a Great Week.

  2. I love it. I too am a chocoholic. And do reward my self for no reason at all.Your goal setting is great. If you were here I would buy you a hot fudge brownie ala mode. It is the ultimate reward.
    Note:

  5. I wish the treats would be chocolate too!!! lol!!
Good for you putting your goals together and then asking friends to keep you focused on the goals…to check in every now and then and keep you “on the straight and narrow”.
I love that Martha offers a variety of exercises towards achieving each step of this “diet” — and I love that we have the choice of which ones will work best for us. Sometimes it’s all of them, sometimes it’s just one or two. Or as you said, if it seems overwhelming, reword it so that it fits in your comfort zone!
Best of luck in staying on target!! I think you’ll do it!

  6. You crack me up… goodness, you’re one of those people I wish lived next door so that we could have tea parties (complete with chocolate of course) while rearranging the world… ๐Ÿ™‚ I love how you redefined risk. I also felt that some of the chapter needed redefining… the success/failure thing really gets me… but you approached your experience with a wit and lightness that inspires me. Thank you!

  7. Thank you for sharing your week with risk. I love how you were able to make the book work for you and adapt it to fit your life. I also love the idea of building towards dreams and relying on friends for accountability. What an excellent post.

  8. Great idea to reframe by changing the language to suit you. I too am approaching this diet and making it my own. It looks like you have a head start on the treat idea. I haven’t read the chapter but you are probably right, it probably won’t involve chocolate, but then again, I am all about taking my own approach with things so my treat journey will likely include some chocolate!

I am half way through and cannot put it down. I am going to do a few things to help send a girl to school so stay tuned and thank you so much for your book list. I really am inspired by your blog!

  13. Very creative adaptation/fixing up of the recipe directions to create a yummy life that suits you. Chocolate. Funny, I don’t indulge often but twice this week I bought chocolate for myself. Go figure. Maybe I intuitively knew I had to reward myself for taking risks ๐Ÿ˜‰
