Yesterday, my sweet son was curb diving and today his mother is telling of some truly divine swapping. Many of you may not know that I live in a very old Southern Plantation type house. With all of the oldness comes many breakdowns and forgivenesses. It's all part of owning an old house. I have someone who is known as our perpetual fixer. Always on call and ready to give a hand in many if not all of our domestic structure crises, Marshall and I traded something needed for something wanted.

While Mimi went through some closet drama, Marshall came to install a built-in system. No longer needing the chest of drawers which was found at an auction, Marshall offered to take it off my hands. "what do you want for it?" he asked. "Nothing, just take it."

I didn't think anything of it and then later that same day he comes barrelling in with this beauty. A tube radio from 1937. He rescued it from a curbside dump. Great save, Marshall. It's a dial radio with push buttons and a dail to find your radio station. It doesn't work but that doesn't seem to matter because everyone in this family loves that radio. Over dinner we imagine who listened to that radio. Did they sit close to it or around a table like we are. Marshall and I think we can get this radio working. Little boy "O" is a bit concerned because he's afraid that the radio might be stuck in time and he might hear some World War II stories. All of this speculating has led us to an investigation of 1937 radio and how news, information, and advertising were delivered at that time. We are really enjoying listening to many of these old time shows. Even if we can't fix it we are thinking of putting an mp3 player in there an hooking up the speakers to have the 1930' and 40's always in our kitchen. Oh how do we love our radio.

If this wasn't enough I have more swap news. I participated in a vintage swap hosted by Heather. Lily sent the most wonderful package from Australia just filled with great and grand vintage goodies.
