Observed and a giveaway

Maybe you remember our vixen and kits from last spring? After that sighting I never saw the kits again but through out the rest of this year, almost daily I am greeted by my friend the fox. She always seems to be aware of me and though she never comes near me, I am clearly under observation. It isn't an uncommon thing to drive in the driveway and see her waiting for me in the lawn. Calmly she heads to her den. She was just checking to make sure I got in ok. In the morning I wake up early just so I can see her slink back into her den from the forest. Recently, she stops, and sits on the lawn and looks right up at me in the kitchen window. I often wonder if she goes back to her family at the end of the day and says" I saw a human today!" I've become so greatly attached to this beauty.  I feel like I'm in that movie "The Fox and the Child". A must see!

  1. We had a fox family that visited us often in Idaho when I was young. I remember one winter we had record low temps and all the animals were having a tough time. Around Christmas time my dad took some elk from our freezer and defrosted it for dinner. I watched him set one steak aside and take it out back to the wood pile where the foxes visited us. I know we should not feed wild animals, but I remember feeling so good about sharing our food with those poor cold animals. They are certainly beautiful and so full of personality.

  2. We had a fox last year that visited us regularly, and who I swear knew our German Shepherd had an invisible fence that he would not go through. The fox would run around the perimeter of our house constantly to try and get the do to chase him, or to just simply annoy him. It was hilarious
    Happy Monday!

  6. We have a fox in residence here as well. I see his footprints in the snow or mud across the yard, occasionally see him along the long dirt driveway, and most often catch sight of him when I walk in the woods. I love seeing him in the woods, because he usually doesn’t see me at first and I can spy on him!

  7. I have a fox that likes bathing in the sun a couple of feets away from my deck. I once saw an entire family.

  14. I just love that movie. There are moments in it which are so unrealistic and then I just have to go back to the dream world of that sweet little girl and the fox.
I just love my sweet little vixen here.

  15. There’s something about making a connection with a wild animal which gives a connection to the power of nature. It makes my day everytime I see her.
