The Other Portland

So here I am a day late and a dollar short. We ended up spending and extra day in Portland Maine because our flight got cancelled. You will hear zero complaining from this crew. We absolutely loved being in Maine and especially Portland. There was one perk to waiting in the airport, and that had to do with me sitting next to Susan Sarandon. Love her movies and she is very nice as well.

As many of you know I hail from the city of roses, better known as Portland Oregon. So Portland Maine was always referred to as "The Other Portland."  I had dreamed of going to Maine for years and this year I decided I would take whoever was available and descend on this lovely city by the sea.

Portland, Maine sits on Casco Bay which leads right out to the Atlantic ocean. Inhabited by 60,000 people, we found Portland to be a great place to eat, shop for books, drink coffee in the many cafes, and shop for yarn. There must have been a least 8 yarn shops in a 2 mile radius. Along with this we enjoyed the building art, the art museum, and the many historical places to visit including Longfellows house and the observatory.

For the next couple of days I have great tales to tell about our great adventures up North.
