Up On The Roof Top

As Emily and I went roaming around Paris discovering the most amazing knit shop, and having coffee and molten lava cake at the Louvre, nothing could have prepared us for our re-entry into our domestic bliss.

"Mom, the girls were on the roof and they could have killed themselves. Why didn't you tell them not to do that?" Little "O" stated rather perturbed and frantic.

"Well I didn't think not to." I said with a bit of a dumb-founded look on my face.

It was only after we had returned home and I saw these that it became so much clearer.

Zuzu, Mimi, and cousin Lauryn wanted to know where that sky-light window in the ceiling would take them. It took them out into the world, on top a building built in the 15th century, with a beautiful view of the Sorbonne I might add.

From there one of the "coolest" adventures of their life unfolded and that was getting back into the apartment.

Try not to be shocked, appalled and terrified and know that all ended well. Young brother however is still ranting and raving about it and feels that we need to write a rule book. ๐Ÿ™‚ I don't have the heart to tell him I don't think that is going to happen nor do I think they would obey anything with a rule in it. For this is a group of free-thinkers.

Thegirls

Here's a look at their antics. Sorry you'll have to view it on my facebook as this is the only link I have to the video. Feel free to add me as your facebook friend. Link in the right hand sidebar.

A big thank-you to "my girls" for letting me pilfer their photos. Love you much !

  5. I love it all. Emily and you finding undiscovered shops, O being perturbed about the girls’ behavior, and the fact that the girls went on a little adventure to the roof. Life is good.

  6. That does sound like a pretty picturesque adventure! I gotta agree that the roof is quite a cool place for a bit of adventuring and sightseeing. Of course, it’s quite high up from the ground, but there’s nothing to worry about if the roof itself is in sturdy shape. It’s as solid as the ground if you’re careful enough, and it is amazing to feel as though you’re on top of the world.

  7. Itโ€™s amazing what sights and sounds you can experience when youโ€™re up on the roof! I agree with Will, it is a great place for a bit of sightseeing. Iโ€™ve seen quite a few things that have piqued my interest while up on the roof of our house, including a mother sparrow feeding her little chicks up on a tree branch. =) Aside from spotting interesting things from up above, though, the roof is also a good place to do some contemplating. You can do lots of thinking while up there, surrounded by the quiet and the peace.

  9. Yes living dangerously is one of their favorite pastimes. So glad I got to see it after the fact and not during. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Thanks Will, I’ll have to remember that the roof is as sturdy as the ground. It’s all in the perspective I think. Thanks for stopping by.

  14. I think this run on the rooftop had more giggling than contemplation but I can tell you one of those lovely girls sits up on the roof to do much contemplation here at home. It’s not so high up as in this apartment.

  16. I agree with what Freddy had to say. But they should be very careful when their up on the roofs, Valerie. I suggest you give them advice about safety precautions when going on the roof. They should wear shoes or boots with rubber soles to minimize the risk of slipping.

  17. Whew, it sounds a bit scary to climb the roof of a building built in the 15th century. But that climb is definitely worth the view the girls witnessed. That molten lave cake looks tempting, by the way! ๐Ÿ˜€
